The History of Our Organization
Flor do Oakley Holy Ghost Society is a non-profit organization that dates back to it's first Holy Ghost Festival in 1927, in Oakley, California. The organization's first president, Manuel Minta, along with his committee, wanted to bring the Portuguese tradition of celebrating the Holy Ghost and the blessings brought upon their people in Portugal, dating back to the time of Queen Isabel of the 13th century.

Today our society still remains very active. From hosting events like crab & lobster feeds, paint nights, membership dinners, our annual Holy Ghost Festival (hosted every third weekend of July) and various other dinners & fundraisers.
When our society is not hosting events, we still remain active by renting out our facility and outdoor grounds. For more information, please visit our "Rentals" tab.
